Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has been at the forefront of controlling COVID-19 cases and preventing further spread of the virus at a global level.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) provides “medical humanitarian assistance to victims of conflict, natural disasters, epidemics or healthcare exclusion.” As the world battles the #COVID19 pandemic, MSF has been fighting at the frontlines of global infection prevention and control in over 70 countries. Their primary objectives are to care for COVID-19 patients, maintain healthcare services, and protect vulnerable people. For example, MSF has dedicated resources to set up COVID treatment centers, screening points, and isolation centers in Yemen, where the pandemic is inflicting pressure on health systems and infrastructure already weakened by years of political conflict and unrest.

In all scales of their COVID response, MSF recognizes that there is a gradient of needs. They aim to support marginalized communities that may lack adequate access to health services, who suffer disproportionately from comorbidities, or who live in overcrowded or substandard housing where social distancing may be difficult or impossible. MSF recognizes the structural factors that may put communities at a higher risk of contracting the virus and they continue to respond globally to treat and protect the most vulnerable.
